The Center for Buddhist Studies at the College of Humanities, in collaboration with the Shatz Family Foundation, is thrilled to launch a new and exciting initiative aimed at fostering well-being through the integration of body, mind and spirit. The initiative is generously sponsored by the Shatz Family Foundation.
We are seeking thoughtful, actionable ideas that promote human wellness with the spirit of integrating humanities, medicine, science, and engineering, through various forms of creative work such as energy healing. Whether it’s a new program for UA student and faculty groups, a meditation or mindfulness series, traditional publication in books and journals, a commercial startup or digital innovation, your ideas can help create lasting positive changes on campus and beyond. We are also happy to support existing projects and events.
UA faculty and students are eligible for the prize up to $1,000 and winners are expected to attend the award ceremony and make a 15-minute presentation about their project. They will be also named junior fellows of the Center for Buddhist Studies (CBS) and given access to space and resources offered by CBS and the Health Humanities Hub (H3) located in the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. A short report should be submitted upon the completion of the proposed project.
To participate, submit the following:
1. Application form. Student applicants must have their application form signed by a faculty or staff sponsor willing to endorse and supervise the project.
2. A proposal (maximum two pages) describing your project, participants and their roles, plan of execution, and budget with short resumes for key personnel in the project. Format: Double spaced, 1" margins, 12-point typeface.
3. A copy of their transcripts (only required for student applicants).
Transcripts do not need to be official copies. The instructions for accessing an unofficial transcript in UAccess can be found here: https://arizona.app.box.com/s/fw0l0w2emxih2xwibdi024snbsu3rex8
