
We are pleased to share that the International Research Division of the Research Center for World Buddhist Cultures (RCWBC) at Ryukoku University is going to host Dr. Kirill Solonin, a renowned expert in Tangut Buddhism and languages, who will deliver a lecture on:
“Tangut Buddhist Texts: State of the Field and Perspectives”

Speaker: Dr. Kirill Solonin (PhD)
Dr. Solonin is currently a JSPS Fellow at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Professor at Renmin University of China. His many publications include The Flight of the Garuḍa: Old and New Tantric Traditions in Tangut Buddhism (Shanghai Guji Press, 2023), Studies on Han-Chinese Buddhist Texts in Tangut (Gansu Cultural Press, 2022), and a collaborative translation of Śāntideva’s Bodhicaryāvatāra into Tangut with Dr. Shintarō Arakawa.
Dr. Solonin has contributed extensively to journals such as T’oung Pao, Journal of the American Oriental Society (JAOS), Journal of Indian and Buddhist Studies (JIP), Acta Orientalia Hungarica, and Chinese Asia Journal (CAJ).
