We warmly welcome you to join us for our lecture, From Global Ethics to Multi-Planetary Ethics: A Perspective of Spiritual Humanism, at 3 pm, on April 3 in N604, ENR2 Building. This FREE in-person event is hosted by the Center for Buddhist Studies and sponsored by the Center for East Asian Studies, the Department of East Asian Studies, and the Department of Philosophy. The lecture will explore how spiritual humanism fosters the emerging global and the coming multi-planetary ethics.

Talk Abstract:
Spiritual Humanism, rooted in Confucian Humanism and enriched through decades of cross-civilizational dialogues, offers a holistic ethical framework integrating self, community, Earth, and Heaven. Anchored in the Confucian virtue of ren (humanity or benevolence), emphasizing self-cultivation, dialogical dialogues, and the theo-anthropo-cosmic doctrine, Spiritual Humanism fosters the emerging global and the coming multi-planetary ethics. This vision redefines humanity as co-creators with Heaven, offering a transformative understanding of human existence and sustainability in a new multi-planetary era.

Speaker:
Dr. Wang Jianbao is the Director of the Center for the Humanities and Business Ethics at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), starting in 2017. He is also a Research Fellow at CKGSB and a Researcher at Peking University. He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Peking University. His research focuses on the humanities and business ethics, especially Confucian Entrepreneurs in the perspective of Spiritual Humanism under the supervision of Prof. Tu Weiming, emeritus professor at Harvard University, fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Academia Sinica.
