Yesterday, August 24, 2023, from 5-7 PM at the Poetry Center's Dorothy Rubel Room, the College of Humanities, led by Dean A-P Durand, hosted an exclusive reception to honor Dr. Jiang Wu, the recent recipient of the prestigious 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship. Dr. Wu was celebrated for his groundbreaking project, "Scripture and Modernity: The Obaku Buddhist Canon in East Asia and the West."
The project delves into the Ōbaku-shū, a key school of Zen Buddhism, examining its Chinese origins and influence in Japan. Dr. Wu serves as the Director of the Center for Buddhist Studies and is a professor in East Asian Studies.
