Dear Friends,
We are pleased to release the eighteenth issue of a monthly Chinese Buddhist Canon Research Newsletter in November 2022. The successful release of this issue marks the completion of a two-year effort. In the beginning of 2021, when we initiated this newsletter with the help of our editorial team and advisory committee, we didn’t expect this modest newsletter can have much impact in academia. Today, we have reached a milestone, with 18 issues published and a growing community of subscribers and researchers.
All of our editors and advisory committee members are working as volunteers and need further support to cover the cost of publishing this newsletter. We are grateful if you can make a donation to our endeavor. Your generous support will go to a special “Buddhist Canon Research Fund” and help to pay for the editorial efforts, publishing costs, hosting related research programs, etc. You can make easy payment through our website. In the field “To designate your gift to a specific area or another fund,” please enter “Buddhist Canon Research Fund.” This will make sure that your gift be used for the right purpose.
If you have any suggestions or would like to contribute information, please email us at buddhist-studies@email.arizona.edu. We welcome submissions of research notes to our Newsletters. Scholars who are interested in sharing your research, please email Dr. Zhouyuan Li at zhouyuan.li@dila.edu.tw.
Our next issue will be released in January 2023. Wish you a productive new year!
Jiang Wu, Darui Long, Zhouyuan Li and Youteng Bi
Editor’s Message:
Dear all,
This is our eighteenth issue of the monthly Chinese Buddhist Canon Research Newsletter for November 2022. As December is getting near, we will soon enter the Christmas season and will not publish the nineteenth issue until January 2023.
The purpose of our newsletter is to provide readers with the latest academic information about the research, collation, collection, and digitization of the Chinese Buddhist canon and scriptures. The opinions expressed are those of the original authors and publishers. I do hope that readers of Buddhist studies share the information from this newsletter. We need your support. We welcome suggestions and even criticisms so that we can improve our work. Thanks very much.
Let me thank all team members for your hard work. You have collected the latest information about the canon in all corners of the world, making great contributions to the study of the field in the Chinese Buddhist canon. It is through your great efforts that our newsletter, like a tiny seedling, is growing up. I hope it grows as tall as a giant Californian redwood tree. Let me express my best wishes to you all for a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
Darui Long
