PNC Closing Message

The Pacific Neighborhood Consortium (PNC) Annual Conference and Joint Meetings successfully concluded three days of lectures and presentations at the University of Arizona in Tucson from September 16-18, 2022. A joint venture of the University of Arizona and Academia Sinica in Taiwan, the conference drew more than 60 participants, including 25 from outside the university.

The main theme of the conference was “The Digital World in an Age of Uncertainty: Humanizing Technology for Wellness, Resilience, and Creativity.” The program focused on topics including Digital Learning, Information Science and E-business, Digital Humanities and Techno-cultural Data in a Post-pandemic World. After two years of delay due to the pandemic, the conference finally arrived on campus. The event was hosted by the College of Humanities and organized by the Center for Buddhist Studies and the Department of East Asian Studies with co-sponsorship by the Center for Digital Humanities, the Center for Digital Society and Data Studies, and the School of Information. 

The Pacific Neighborhood Consortium is a leading research organization which supports enhanced research and education through effective use of new technologies. Since its founding in 1993, PNC encourages scholars, academic institutions, and universities to collaborate and exchange their academic resources and research expertise. PNC has been committed to enhancing digital research and interaction among researchers, educators, and professionals around the Pacific Rim nations.
