Congratulations to the 2024 graduates of the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona (EAS)! It's heartwarming to witness numerous EAS graduate students, faculty, friends, and parents coming together to celebrate this special occasion.
This year, we proudly present four graduates: Lu Zhang, Youteng Bi, Jeffrey Liu, and Ven. Changzhong Shi (Shin Lee), all specializing in Chinese Buddhism. They were hooded by Dr. Jiang Wu on May 9th during the Convocation hosted by the College of Humanities at The University of Arizona.
In Fall 2024, Lu Zhang, an advisee of Dr. Albert Welter, will serve as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. Jeffrey Liu will begin his role as an assistant professor in the Department of History at the University of South Dakota. Ven. Changzhong Shi will pursue a Ph.D. in the Department of Religious Studies at Brown University.
