Khyentse Foundation Fellowships Awarded to Xinrui Zeng

The Center for Buddhist Studies and the Department of East Asian Studies are pleased to announce that Xinrui Zeng is one of the two recipients of the 2025-2026 Khyentse Foundation Doctoral Fellowship. An award ceremony will take place in conjunction with the East Asian Studies ceremony on May 8, 2025.

Xinrui Zeng is a Ph.D. candidate majoring in Chinese Buddhism in the East Asian Studies Department at the University of Arizona. She received her master’s degree from Peking University (2020) in religious studies. Her research interests include the social-cultural history of Buddhism in premodern China, and the relationship among Buddhist text, art, and materiality. During her doctorate, she has contributed to the editing project of the Encyclopedia of Hangzhou Buddhist Culture, presented her studies at conferences of the American Society for Premodern Asia (the former American Oriental Society), and had her research published. Currently, her research concentrates on her dissertation project about the social-cultural history of the Scripture in Forty-Two Sections.
