Dear Friend,

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the remarkable progress and achievements that your support has made possible. This year has been transformative for our Center, and we are excited to share some of the highlights with you.

Our fellowship programs have continued to support exemplary research projects by our graduate students. Awards have been granted to talented individuals who have engaged in high-quality research, with some completing their dissertations and securing employment.

We proudly celebrated the graduation of four exceptional students: Lu Zhang, Youteng Bi, Jeffrey Liu, and Ven. Changzhong Shi (Shin Lee), all specializing in Chinese Buddhism. Their dedication and scholarship contribute significantly to the field of Buddhist Studies.

In September, together with Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, we launched the Spiritual Wellness Series with a successful event featuring Drs. Hsu and Cheng, focusing on the integration of Buddhist philosophy in Mind Medicine. The event attracted 930 RSVPs, reflecting the community's strong interest in the intersection of Buddhism and wellness.

Additionally, we co-sponsored the Jataka conference in Bangkok, exploring the tales of the Buddha's past lives. This collaboration with Thammasat University underscores our commitment to global engagement and scholarly exchange.

Our faculty have conducted remarkable research, publishing books and articles, continuing to teach and mentor students, and achieving promotions to administrative roles within the university. For full details of what we have been doing, please see the 2024 annual newsletter of our Center.

As we build upon these accomplishments, we are excited about the future of the Center for Buddhist Studies. Your continued support is vital in sustaining and expanding our programs, research, and outreach efforts.
